A press release recently announced that Ford has partnered with the exquisite brains at the University of Michigan on the state-of-the-art 13,400 sq.-ft. The Blue Oval brand’s roboticists are located on the complex’s fourth floor, where they work with University of Michigan researchers on initiatives involving artificial intelligence, disaster response, and even greater levels of wilderness exploration. Other projects are testing “legged” robots, efficient prosthetics, advanced drone research, and even self-operating automobiles!

Wiscasset Ford Celebrates Graduating Class
The Wiscasset High School faculty made a surprise visit to the homes of the graduating class of 2020, capping their high school careers on a sweet note. Wiscasset Ford was one of the donors of the gifts to these seniors that included a lawn sign with the name of the senior, a sweatshirt that read, “You don’t need 2020 vision to see our pride,” and the wolverine mascot and the message of “Class of 2020 seniors #2020Strong.” Students were handed these gifts by their teachers and senior class advisors Prema Long and Kim Anderson, who expressed the message that although the school year came to a quick end, they should keep their heads held high and anticipate what is ahead.
The celebration was enhanced by the presence of other Wiscasset High School senior class advisors, including Adrienne Frair, Hollie Paul, and Chris Hammond. Deb Pooler, the Wiscasset High School technology coordinator and student council advisor, was also present for the celebrations.
Although the COVID-19 pandemic prevented these seniors from moving forward with their schoolwork and graduation, here at Wiscasset Ford, it was vital for us to play a role in supporting our local community. The dealership recently presented the pickup truck to Gather Food Pantry in Seacoast, NH, who is busy working hard to collect food for families in need. Gather Food Pantry has been serving Seacoast residents for more than 200 years to make the Greater Seacoast area a hunger-free community. The COVID-19 pandemic created a challenge for the food pantry, with more people needing food as more community members become unemployed.
The food pantry collects food from farms, but it takes more to gather food with greater needs. That is where Portsmouth Ford stepped up by donating the Ford F-150 pickup truck model, as it provides additional hauling and transportation for the food pantry. The truck is used to take food from 20 area farms back to the food pantry for distribution.
During the pandemic, we are all reminded about the importance of helping our neighbors and sticking together.
